Under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST) is a comprehensive and international knowledge centre devoted to the engineering sciences, technology and applied technology. IKCEST is established as a globally connected engineering institution, serving to assemble various digital resources relating to engineering sciences and technology, build a public data service platform and corresponding service environment, and coordinate the building of professional knowledge systems. IKCEST provides knowledge services at a global scale in the form of consultancies, scientific research and education for policy-makers, engineers, researchers and technicians in the field of engineering sciences and technology, with particular reference to the developing countries.

Since 2015, IKCEST has successfully held two sessions of the annual IKCEST International Symposia, each of which attracted more than 400 audiences and more than 20 distinguished scientists from all over the world. The Symposia focused on related areas of big data and knowledge services, discussing frontier technologies in depth. Top scientists such as Turing Award winner Raj Reddy and Former Vice President of Chinese Academy of Engineering Yunhe Pan, etc, had given academic lectures at the symposia and interacted with the audiences, constructing a platform for exchanges of mind and wisdom among scientists and engineers around the world.
