200,699. Neate, C. W. July 13, 1922. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Centrifugal speed indicators; transmissionmechanism.-Instruments for motor and other cycles comprise an inclined centrifugal ring g, Fig. 7, mounted on a shaft e driven by a flexible shaft d, Fig. 1, from a grooved friction wheel b, which is carried by a bracket c mounted on the wheel axle or the fork and engages a V-edged friction disc a, Fig. 6, attached to a road wheel. The disc a may be in two parts to facilitate attachment, and the bracket c may have an adjustment slot. The sliding-sleeve. h of the speed-indicator is provided with a projection h<1>, in contact with but not connected to the ring g, and has a collar h<2> engaging a bent extension i<1> of the indicating- hand i. The ring g is maintained in an inclined position by a spring g<2>, and the projection h<1> of the sleeve is under the influence of a spring h<3>, while the indicating-hand is provided with a return spring i<2>. The shaft e is supported at its free end by a screw e<2>, and the casing has a lug f<1> for attachment to the handle-bars or other part of the cycle.
