The composite motion curve-face gear pair is a new kind of gear pair based on curve-face gear and composite motion bevel gear. It combines the characteristics of non-circular gear, cam, and face gear. Let the circular gear meshes with the curve-face gear and the circular gear is the driving gear, the output shaft can generate composite motion of rotation and axial movement. Combining with the principle of movement of the cam, the movement principle of the gear pair was analyzed. The motion law of the gear pair and the changes of the motion law were obtained. The gear pair was proved to comply with the correctly engaging conditions. Combining with engineering practice, the application of composite motion curve-face gear in impact driller was analyzed, and its operating characteristics were also analyzed. Structural design of the impact mechanism was also conducted.
