Gas Secretion in Coregonids
IT is known that the coregonids do not possess a counter-current system in the vascularization of the swim-bladder. In his classical work Hüfner1 showed that C. acronius has a gas content in the swim-bladder consisting mainly of nitrogen—some 99 per cent. This was later verified by others2–4 on C. acronius and related species.
