Africa Week is scheduled to take place from 22 to 24 May 2024 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The theme of the 2024 edition of this cultural and festive event is ‘‘Education for innovation, development, and culture in Africa’’. 

At the press conference, the Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Rwanda to UNESCO, and Chairman of UNESCO's Africa Group, H.E. Mr François Nkulikiyimfura, stated that ‘‘this theme, which resonates perfectly with the priorities of both the African Union and UNESCO, is deeply rooted in the challenges and aspirations of our African societies’’. The Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of the Kingdom of Morocco to UNESCO, and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 2024 edition of Africa Week, H.E. Mr Samir Addahre, emphasized the unifying nature of Africa Week, which brings together all African peoples and cultures, and is an opportunity for Africa to present its vision of the world. Mohamed Elfarnawany, Director of the Division for the Coordination of Priority Africa at UNESCO, noted that ‘‘Africa Week is a not-to-be-missed event at UNESCO, one of the events that makes UNESCO proud, because it celebrates the diversity and cultural wealth of Africa. This is why UNESCO unreservedly supports this major cultural and festive event in honour of Africa every year’’.

The Chairmen of the various commissions of the Africa Week Organizing Committee gave a detailed presentation of the main activities of Africa Week to the journalists and Ambassadors, Permanent Delegates of the Member States to UNESCO present at the press conference and answered the journalists' questions.

The main features of Africa Week are: the opening ceremony (22 May), craft exhibitions and stands, the children's session, the fashion show, the book fair, cocktail receptions, conferences, cinema, and the closing ceremony with the Gala evening (24 May).
