The goal of this research was to review evidence on promising strategies—including innovative policies and programs—to strengthen and expand the entry-level health care workforce and identify potential opportunities for stakeholders to consider based on this review. In the following sections, we describe the approach we took to identify policy opportunities, various key challenges facing this segment of the workforce, strategies to strengthen the EHCW, and policy opportunities based on the findings of our work.
