Traditional Chinese dresses displayed during fashion show in Mongolia

ULAN BATOR, Jan.21 (Xinhua) -- A fashion show of traditional Chinese dresses was held here on Monday as a part of events to celebrate Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival.

The Spring Festival falls on Feb. 5 this year and is the most important holiday in China.

Models from China displayed traditional Chinese dresses during a show co-organized by the Chinese embassy in Mongolia and the Chinese Cultural Center to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival or Year of the Pig. The models also showcased traditional Chinese hand fans and umbrellas with gallant scenes, paper kites and paper cuttings, and gave them to the audience.

In addition, models from Mongolia's "Torgo" model agency participated in the show sporting traditional Mongolian dresses.

The aim of the fashion show is to "strengthen cultural ties between China and Mongolia and friendship between the two peoples," Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Xing Haiming said at the opening ceremony of the show.

As 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-Mongolia diplomatic ties, more events will be organized to deepen ties between the two countries, Xing added.
