Apple recently confirmed that its next-gen iPhone, iPhone 12, will be coming later than usual this year. However, now a supply chain gives some more details and how can the launch possibly happen. It says that new iPhones may go on sale in two stages. This is not new as in 2017, iPhone X came a couple of months later than the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models. In 2018 too the iPhone XR came later than the iPhone XS and XS Max. This year, it might be the same situation.

The report from Digitimes adds that production of iPhone 12 components will peak in the final quarter of the year, which is not the usual case. Generally, the production of iPhone components reach its peak in Q3 of the year, just before they are unveiled in September.

“Taiwan’s PCB makers in the supply chain for Apple devices will see their shipments for new iPhones not peak until the fourth quarter this year as Apple has confirmed its iPhone 12 lineup will debut later than normally scheduled in September,” states the report.

As mentioned by MacRumours, Apple could be launching the two 6.1-inch screen iPhones in the first phase and the 6.7-inch with 5.4-inch in the second phase. That is because “suppliers of SLP (substrate-like PCB) mainboards for the former models have recently kicked off shipments, with those for the latter to start in late August,” adds the report.

However, none of this is confirmed. Even Digitimes report says that this ‘may’ happen so we won’t be betting everything on this piece of information.
