The Workshop on Open Science Infrastructure and Artificial Intelligence & Science Technology Engineering and Innovation Policy Asia and the Pacific Network (STEPAN) 3rd Annual Meeting was held in Jakarta from May 31 to June 1, 2023. The event was intended to share knowledge and ideas on science, technology and innovation (STI) policies, strategies and initiatives among state members, advance the implementation of the STEPAN Action Plan (2021-2025), and promote regional exchanges and cooperation.
Upon invitation, Prof. Juanle Wang, special advisor of International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the Auspices of UNESCO (IKCEST), attended the workshop and delivered a presentation entitled "Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service: A Practice from IKCEST". Prof. Wang introduced IKCEST DRR knowledge service, typical cases, the Global Disaster Data Master Directory (GDMD) built on open science infrastructure connectivity, the international workshops and training workshops co-organized by IKCEST and Disaster Risk Reduction Unit and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Section, Natural Sciences Sector, UNESCO, and IKCEST's progress in artificial intelligence (AI) ethics. IKCEST has always attached great importance to international cooperation in the Asia Pacific region and would love to conduct in-depth collaboration in Open science and related priority areas with other institutions in this region.
